Martyn has been shortlisted many times for awards given by the Garden Media Guild and its predecessor, the Garden Writers’ Guild, in categories such as garden columnist of the year and best practical book. Elsewhere, in 2009 his RHS Wildlife Garden book took gold in the Practical Pre-School Awards and he was named garden writer of the year 2016 in the LSL Property Press Awards.
